Who is Leo Linnartz?
Leo has worked in rewilding and nature restoration for more than 27 years with ARK Rewilding Nederland. Inspired by natural processes in southern Africa, he has developed extensive knowledge of landscapes, biodiversity and animal behaviour through fieldwork, observation and research.
Leo has worked on rewilding projects at both large and small scales, with large herbivores playing a central role. As Programme Leader for Knowledge Exchange at ARK, he bridges research and practice, making knowledge accessible and applicable to nature management – including how rewilding herds adapt to the return of wolves to the Netherlands.
Leo is the author of several books and articles, including Rewilding Horses in Europe, The Social Organisation of Natural Herds of Koniks and Natural Processes.
